Send Fest and Rock Canyon Stewardship
On April 12th, the SLCA participated in a stewardship event in Rock Canyon, Provo, UT, in collaboration with Pando Retrofitters, who were hosting the 3rd Annual Send Fest.
This 24-hour climbing event blended climbing, clinics, and stewardship into one action-packed day. Participants earned raffle tickets by engaging in different aspects of the event, from attending clinics to contributing to stewardship efforts.
During the day, Drew Brodhead, our Anchor Maintenance and Advocacy Coordinator, helped with stewardship efforts by installing trail signs along the Rock Canyon Trail. While out on the trail, he also picked up trash and removed discarded dog bags, doing his part to help keep the canyon clean and accessible for everyone.
Later in the day, the SLCA joined the event’s award ceremony, where Drew had a chance to speak about the SLCA’s mission and how climbers can get involved in protecting and preserving our climbing areas.
Huge thanks to Pando Retrofitters for donating all the proceeds from Send Fest to the SLCA! In addition, Pando donates $1 from each transaction to various conservation groups throughout the valley. If you're ever in Provo, swing by and say hi to the awesome folks at Pando!
