Tour Date: 📅 May 13, 2025 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Join us for a 1.5-hour interpretive walking tour of the Alpenbock Loop in Little Cottonwood Canyon—the first recreational climbing area in the U.S. listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This one-mile loop explores the roots of climbing in the Wasatch, honoring the pioneering climbers of the 1950s and the conservation values and climbing culture that continue to define the canyon today.
Meeting Location: 🚩 LCC Park & Ride — 4385 Little Cottonwood Canyon Rd, Sandy, UT 84092 (We will depart near the restroom area.)
Led by the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance (SLCA), this one-of-a-kind experience invites participants to reflect on the intersection of outdoor recreation, environmental ethics, and cultural preservation in one of America’s most iconic climbing destinations. Whether you're a climber, a history buff, or simply curious—come walk the loop and discover the stories behind the stone.
