SLCA's Top Ten Accomplishments in 2013
Well, that's a wrap for 2013, and with your help we had a great year! Check out this list of the SLCA's Top Ten Accomplishments in 2013. We're looking forward to an even bigger and better 2014 as the VOICE FOR WASATCH CLIMBERS.
TOP TEN
- Facilitated four environmental stewardship projects at your local crags: Ruth Lake, Ferguson, Albion Basin, and Little Cottonwood Canyon.
- Ensured access and promoted environmental stewardship with theLittle Cottonwood Climbing Trail Management Plan.
- Installed seasonal latrines at Joe’s Valley for the 6th year in a row with help from the American Alpine Club's Cornerstone Grant and founded the Joe’s Valley Coalition, a public/private partnership formed to protect access at Joe's.
- Hosted the 2013 Salt Lake Craggin’ Classic in partnership with the American Alpine Club – a weekend focused on gym-to-crag education with the professionals from Mountain Education and Development, building community, and environmental stewardship.
- Advocated for climbing in the Wastach by having a seat at the table at Wasatch Summit and the Wasatch Legacy Partnership.
- Established best practices for the SLCA’s Wasatch Anchor Replacement initiative, a war on bad bolts to be put into effect in 2014.
- Raised $12,500 at the Black Diamond Fundraiser to continue the work of the SLCA.
- Acquired New Technical Rock Work Tools with the help from an Access Fund grant.
- Brought the Reel Rock 8 Film Tour to Park City for the third year. These films are sponsored bySender Films and Petzl as a fundraiser for the SLCA.
- Strengthened the voice for Wasatch climbing with over 200 joint SLCA/Access Fund members. (Check out theAccess Fund’s Top Ten Accomplishments to see how your dollars were spent to protect national climbing with your joint membership.)
