Joe's Valley Adopt a Crag
Where: Joe's Valley - Utah
When: Saturday, April 5
Hosted by: Access Fund & Salt Lake Climbers Alliance
Details: The popularity of Joe's Valley has grown tremendously over the last several years. With more & more people frequenting the area, the locals from Emery County, the US Forest Service and BLM have all started to take notice. Not only are they excited about the climbers visiting this rural & isolated part of Utah, sharing a passion for the beauty of the area; but they've also begun to become concerned about the impacts being seen on the ground; between the impacts from dispersed camping, trails, pad platforms and the concentration of human waste.
The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance and the Access Fund have been leading a coalition of invested folks on looking at the long term vision for climbing in Joe's Valley. In addition, the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance has been covering the costs of the seasonal port a potties in Joe's for the last several years and could use support!
On Saturday, April 5th SLCA & AF will be hosting an Adopt a Crag and Climbers Coffee to show the locals how invested climbers can be in taking care of their climbing resources and to show the dedication we have towards seeing long term & continued access. Starting at 8am, we'll be serving coffee and breakfast snacks, talking with climbers about what they'd like to see in Joe's Valley. Starting at 10am we will break out and work on a variety of projects including: installing a kiosk, dispersing unnecessary fire rings, cleaning up trash and ash from camping areas, plus removing trash throughout the bouldering areas.
