ACCESS ALERT: POPTIRE CAVE

ACCESS ALERT: POPTIRE CAVEPoptire Cave is voluntarily CLOSED for nesting raptors now until May/June. Thank you for respecting the closure.

HawkWatch International (HWI) nest monitoring has confirmed that Golden Eagles have begun incubating their eggs at a nest site near Poptire Cave. Please continue to observe a voluntary closure of the area until May/June and give the birds the space they need during this critical period of their reproductive cycle. The closure will be lifted once the chicks fledge the nest. Respecting the closure promotes the relationship of trust between the climbing community and the BLM. Any changes in the status of the nest will be confirmed by HWI/SLCA monitors as the nesting season continues. If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer to help monitor the nest, please contact Eric Chabot at echabot@hawkwatch.org.
