Heads Up! Rockfall on The Great Chockstone, LCC
The SLCA and the Salt Lake Ranger District are aware of the rockfall that recently occurred on The Great Chockstone, around the base of Crescent Crack, and along a section of the Alpenbock Loop Trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Parts of the trail have been signed to alert the public. The canyons are always in flux, especially with big freeze thaw events, and the area may be active for some period of time.
To those who helped build the stone staircase to Mexican Crack, take a deep breath when you look at the photos as much of this rock work was impacted.
Stay tuned for some spring Adopt a Crags in this zone to repair the climbing and hiking access.
Thanks to all who submitted photos and to the USFS for addressing the issue.
